New England Historic and Genealogical Society Luncheon

After Appomattox: Researching Confederate Veterans

in Post-Civil War America

S432, Saturday, 10 May 2014, 12:15 p.m.

Speaker: David Allen Lambert, Chief Genealogist, New England Historic Genealogical Society
http://www.AmericanAncestors.org

This luncheon presentation will offer an overview of the records available for researching your ancestors who were Confederate veterans in the post-Civil War south. A variety of these original records can be obtained via microfilm, however many others are now digitized online.  Examples of the various pension documents offered from state governments will be shown, and where the records are currently archived.  This lecture may also prove to be of interest for the Civil War researcher or military historian, who has never used Confederate pension records in their research.
