The Mount Vernon Genealogical Society (MVGS) Research Center is located in Room 214 of the Hollin Hall Senior Center, 1500 Shenandoah Road, Alexandria, Virginia 22308, about four miles north of Mount Vernon Plantation in Fairfax County. The Research Center is open Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the following exceptions: closed the first Wednesday of each month for the MVGS Board meeting and closing at noon on the third Tuesday of each month for the general program meeting. There is no fee to use the Research Center. Information on the Research Center can be found at http://www.mvgenealogy.org.
Be Prepared
Digital photos may be taken or copies may be made for .15 per page. There is a fee of .15 per page for printed materials or documents and can be saved to your flash drive.
Holdings
The Research Center houses over 3500 books and periodicals. All books are cataloged using the Library of Congress system. There are 7 computers with access to various databases such as Ancestry.com, Fold3.com, AmericanAncestors.org, among others.
Collections
In addition to subscription sites, books and periodicals, there is a surname list and pedigree charts submitted by members and a vertical files subject.
